We’ve got a new images plus a new theatrical trailer for cop drama End of Watch with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena. It's nice to see Pena in a leading role. (He'll next be seen as part of the Gangster Squad). This new trailer is definitely aimed at the Hispanic community. The titles are in Spanish even though there are no subtitles on the trailer.
It’s also got a lot more action (and gun-violence which seems kind of stereo-typical at first glance, but the gangs of South Central LA are part of what this film is about.)
“A powerful story of family, friendship, love, honor and courage, End Of Watch stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as young Los Angeles police officers Taylor and Zavala as they patrol the city’s meanest streets of south central Los Angeles.
Giving the story a gripping, first-person immediacy, the action unfolds entirely through footage from the handheld HD cameras of the police officers, gang members, surveillance cameras, and citizens caught in the line of fire to create a riveting portrait of the city’s darkest, most violent corners, the cops who risk their lives there every day, and the price they and their families are forced to pay.”
David Ayer (Training Day) directs from his own script, and along with Gyllenhaal, Peña, is a supporting cast, led by Anna Kendrick, America Ferrera, Cody Horn, Natalie Martinez, David Harbour and Frank Grillo.
End of Watch opens in the US September 28 23rd November in the UK. You can see everything we’ve got on the film here.
