Jennifer Aniston has revealed that her performance in The Break-Up was drawn from her real-life split from ex-husband Brad Pitt.
The actress spoke during an interview on Inside the Actors Studio, where she described the 2006 film, co-starring Vince Vaughn, as “a beautiful human story about a couple breaking up.”
Aniston then revealed to the show’s host, James Lipton, that she “was slightly familiar on the topic and the issue, and I honestly felt like, what a great way to exorcise some of that.”
She said some believed she may find the job that much harder given her personal break-up, but she said she enjoyed the project.
“You would think otherwise, because producers were like, ‘I don’t know if we should ask you to do this,’ and I was like, why not? Turn the page. Let’s move on,” she explained.
While The Break-Up was a successful film, it was nothing compared to Aniston’s role on Friends.
Aniston said after filming the final episode, the cast “just wept, cried our eyes out.”
She claims the show “is one of the greatest jobs I ever had. It gave me everything. It gave me this ridiculously blessed life and career, and it’s taught me so much. It was the best time I ever had.”
