While Jeff Daniels plays a very smart news anchor on "The Newsroom," he is going to dumb things down a bit by working on the Dumb and Dumber sequel.
On the Late Night show, Daniels announced it is happening.
"It'll be the 20th anniversary of the first one next year when it's released. I've seen the script. It's hysterical. We're middle-aged. We're not pretending we aren't. We're middle-aged and we're still that stupid," he said.
The sequel was on shaky ground last month when Warner Bros. dropped it after sitting on it for almost a year. But the day was saved when Universal Studios swooped in and picked it up.
It will be called "Dumb and Dumber To."
Daniels told the NY Daily News that Carrey was to credit for making the movie happen.
"Jim has been against all sequels, and you know, understandably so. But he turned 50 and that will mellow you out, and suddenly he's going, 'Let's have some fun.'"
