Fifty Shades of Grey has been the subject of non-stop speculation ever since it was first announced that a movie would be made. For months, loyal fans spent their days debating about who the ideal cast members would be. Some of the early candidates made little sense, but by the end, the fan favorites were pretty universally viewed as perfect fits.
Then the powers that be came out and announced that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would lead the project. That news was met with…well, we all know how that news was met.
Surely enough, a few weeks after the big cast reveal, Hunnam dropped out of the project. The powers behind this film quickly moved to replace him – opting for Jamie Dornan.
Now with the cast situation more or less figured out, everyone assumed that the bumps in the road were a thing of the past.
According to multiple reports, ‘Fifty Shades’ director Sam Taylor-Johnson and author E.L. James are clashing regarding the script.
"Sam is getting annoyed about the way the script is being handled," a source told E! News.
"E.L. James wants the movie to match the book exactly, but Sam has a different perspective. Sam is reminding E.L. she writes books and she makes movies. This has caused some tension between the two of them."
Whenever books are turned into movies, this sort of conflict is inevitable. If it were the only one this movie had, nobody would blink at this news. However, given the troubled history this project has already had, it’s understandable why some folks are concerned.
