Elizabeth Olsen remains a strong contender for the role of Anastasia Steele in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
Olsen, most well known for her role on Martha Marcy May Marlene and for being the younger sister of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, has been in some way attached to the film since 2012. Her interview Bullet in July of 2012, when she acknowledged the impact the book had on (women in) society, supposedly did a lot of increase her chances of actually securing the role.
“[The book] had a huge impact on society,” Elizabeth said in the interview. “Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who’ve read the book are really getting into bondage, which is kind of great. It’s such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan.”
So would the youngest Olsen say yes if she were chosen as the Anastasia Steele?
“Sure, if the script is any good,” Olsen said in an interview with Glamour in September of 2012.
Other current favorites for the role include Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls), Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Ashley Greene (Twilight), and Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars).
