E.L. James warned that her selections for who would play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the upcoming â€˜Fifty Shades of Greyâ€™ movie would rub some diehard fans the wrong way.
She was right.
When word came down that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson would star in the film, a lot of the people who had been breathlessly awaiting news that Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel would headline the project were obviously disappointed.
Interestingly enough, even though Johnson was universally panned as the selection for Anastasia, itâ€™s been Hunnam who has been on the receiving end of most of the online venom. Despite the fact that most fans seem to agree that while he isnâ€™t the ideal pick, heâ€™ll do decent enough in the role â€“ petitions have been circulating demanding that he be removed. Meanwhile, even though nobody approves of Johnson as Anastasia, she has seemingly flown under the radar.
A few days ago, in response to chatter that Hunnam had heard all of the fan criticism and was considering dropping out of the film, Johnson issued a very simple, very clear final word on the matter:

Hunnam isnâ€™t going anywhere. Johnson, unfortunately, isnâ€™t going anywhere. This is the cast, folks. Get used to it or donâ€™t, but either way, the powers that be who are putting together the â€˜Fifty Shadesâ€™ movie donâ€™t really care.
