Donald Trump to Miss California Carrie Prejean - "You're Fired"

| by DeepDiveAdmin
Miss California Carrie Prejean, who rose to national fame after announcing her opposition to same-sex marriage during the Miss USA pageant, has officially been stripped of her crown. According to pageant owner Donald Trump, Prejean was not ousted because of her beliefs, but because the beauty queen failed to honor her commitments as Miss California.

"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said in a statement. "Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen."

Other pageant officials have shared similar sentiments. "This was a decision based solely on contract violations including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," executive director Keith Lewis said in a statement sent to ABCNews.com. "After our press conference in New York we had hoped we would be able to forge a better working relationship. However, since that time it has become abundantly clear that Carrie is unwilling to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together."

According to pageant officials, first runner-up Tami Farrell will immediately take over the crown and Prejean's responsibilities as Miss California.
