Cardinal nation was approaching panic mode yesterday afternoon when word surfaced that Clint Hurtt, Louisville’s outstanding recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach, was down at Auburn interviewing for their defensive line position. However, we can all relax now because Hurtt is staying at Louisville. Here’s what Hurtt had to say about it, via one of the most trusted sources of news and information on the planet, Facebook:
To all my FB friends and family I wanted everyone to know I’m not going anyplace. I appreciate everything that Coach Chizik and Auburn showed my wife and I. I owed it to my family to at least look at the opportunity to coach in the SEC. I believe in Charlie Strong and the Univ. Of Louisville and believe we are on the way to great things! Thank you for all of the love from our Cardinal faithful!! Go Cards!!
Charlie Strong actually “broke” the news via another great source of news, Twitter, with this tweet:
Big news!! The big hurtt is staying with the cardinals.
Some people are a bit upset at Hurtt for interviewing by claiming if he was truly happy here, why would he even interview? I understand that feeling, but I disagree. I believe a man, or woman, has an obligation to their family and to look at all options that could potentially improve their financial situation. Even if you are happy at one job, if another job comes open and is offering more money, you would crazy not to at least inquire.
I think that’s all Hurtt did, but we can agree to disagree.
The point remains, Clint Hurtt is still at Louisville and Cardinal fans should be thrilled about it.
