Miley Cyrus often offends adults in the U.S. with her sexy moves, however, now she has raised the ire of officials in Mexico.
As part of her 2014 Bangerz Tour, Cyrus brought her raunchy act to Monterrey, Mexico, on Tuesday, which just happened to be Mexico's independence day.
In a video (below) shot by a concert attendee, Cyrus wore a large prosthetic butt that was playfully spanked by her dancers with a Mexican flag (video below).
According to Fusion.net, Cyrus may have violated Mexico's constitution, which states: "Disrespect for the flag and national symbols, will be punished according to their seriousness and the condition of the person who commits them."
If Cyrus broke the law, she could be fined up to $5,200 or spend 36 hours in jail.
Fusion.net adds that Mexican singer Paulina Rubio posed nude with only the Mexican flag covering her in a magazine in 2007 and was fined $4,000.
A spokesman of Mexico's interior ministry told AFP that a probe of the buttocks/flag incident has been launched.
"They are hitting her with the flag, or cleaning her backside. It's a lack of respect," stated Nuevo Leon lawmaker Francisco Trevino Cabello.
"The interior ministry must sanction the singer Miley Cyrus for desecrating the flag," added Cabello.
