Calling into KKLA-FM radio in Los Angeles today, Christian speaker and author Joni Eareckson Tada gave her opinions on the recent deaths of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Annette Funicello.
She heaped praise on Thatcher and her purse, but when asked about Funicello, Eareckson Tada lamented that the former Mouseketeer and 1960's film star "did not embrace Christ" (audio below).
Eareckson Tada, who is a quadriplegic and did not know Funicello personally, first said, "[My heart] breaks because I do not know if she opened up her heart to Jesus Christ."
After remarking about Funicello's beauty and how it faded away, Eareckson Tada added, "So much beauty and yet it ended in such a tragic way with her multiple sclerosis and of course her not having embraced Christ as Savior."
Eareckson Tada suggested that Funicello may have converted on her "death bed" and added, "I know the Gospel was shared with her and we'll see on the other side of eternity," which suggested Funicello might be in hell.
