Bratt Pitt says that he’s finally a ‘satisfied man.’ The difference between the Pitt of the past and present, he says, has quite a bit to do with his new life and being married to Angelina Jolie.
Pitt says that he fell into a rut during the time he was married to Jennifer Aniston. There was a point of clarity, though, where he says he finally decided to “live more purposefully and stop wasting time.”
He mentions that a huge reason for his change of heart, both for Jolie and for his new perspective on life, had to do with shifting his personal choices and attitude from how they were in the past. “I spent the ‘90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony,”he says. “I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic.” “It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself,” he says.
Married life with Jolie seems like a whole different ballgame. “One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom,” Pitt says. “She is such a great mom. Oh, man, I’m so happy to have her.”
Granted, Pitt says his time with Aniston was not a waste, nor was their split her fault. Their marriage from 2000 until 2005 was, he says, an “important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but that I was becoming dull to myself – and that, I am responsible for.”
Although Pitt and Jolie are going stronger than ever, Pitt notes that the two will not be wed until “everyone can;” his nod to the inequality of marriage rights for homosexual couples.
