If the wig fits: Al Pacino is to portray music producer Phil Spector in a forthcoming HBO biopic.
According to The New York Times, Pacino, 70, is set to play the iconic record producer who was banged up last year for the murder of Lana Clarkson.
Word is the film, to be written and directed by David Mamet, will focus on Spector’s musical innovations like his ‘Wall Of Sound’ production style, as well as his incarceration.
Barry Levinson (Rain Man) will serve as executive producer.
Pacino’s rep, John L. Burnham, told the Post that the actor “just saw a very interesting character to play, and he likes the sensibility of David and Barry.”
Just think of the fun Pacino will have playing dress-up!
