An Australian woman's eyelashes reportedly fell out after a botched lash extension job.
Now the unidentified woman's story is being used to warn others, reports the Daily Mail.
Emmaculate Beauty salon owner and beautician Emma Dhanjal took to Facebook after a woman without eyelashes came to her salon, desperate for lash extensions before her birthday.
"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research", she wrote on the post before removing it. "This poor girl has been left with extremely damaged natural lashes."
"She wanted lashes for her birthday this weekend and I could not lash her because she has been left with no lashes," she continued.
"Her natural lashes are sooooo damaged from the place she has been having her lashes done, they were falling out when I touched them with the tweezers," Dhanjal added.
The client reportedly also had "inflamed eyelids" that were infected. Dhanjal told the young woman to go see her doctor for treatment.
"This should NEVER ever happen to your lashes, please do not be scared of having lash extensions applied, if you do your research and go to the right place your lash extensions can be applied for years and years without having a break," added Dhanjal.
"I take a lot of pride in my work and this makes me feel sick it is still happening out there," she continued.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, the beautician offered advice to women interested in lash extensions.
"My advice for people looking to get lashes is to look at reviews, and make sure the professional knows what they’re doing," she said. "Prices are also important -- you get what you pay for if you go too cheap. Definitely look at photos on social media to find out if the place is any good."
After learning what happened to the young woman, many said women should avoid getting fake eyelashes altogether.
"DONT EVER get eye lashes extension done," wrote one person on the Daily Mail's Facebook post about the incident. "The side effect later are horrific. Swollen eyes and rash on face and neck. It isnt something a women would want to experience. If you want long eye lashes castor oil is the way forward apply every night before bed and watch in two weeks you will see the difference."
"When will humans realize that Natural is more beautiful than want to be," added a second. "Is it really worth interfering with what your natural beauty."
Others defended the procedure.
"I've been having mine done for months, no issues or anything like that," wrote one woman. "It saves me time in the morning so I don't have to do my eye makeup and mascara makes my eyes sting so perfect solution for me. You just need to do your research, find someone reputable and look after them!"
