Woman Fakes Health Secret To Keep Boyfriend Around

An Alaska woman revealed in the new Oxygen Channel show “My Crazy Love” that she faked being deaf for nine months in order to keep her boyfriend around.

The woman, who identifies herself as Tina, reveals that she was startled when she happened upon an attractive single guy at a bar in Kodiak, Alaska. She told him she was deaf without thinking, and once she got into a relationship with him, she decided she had to keep it up so that he wouldn’t break up with her.

“I was frozen," said Tina of the moment the guy approached her. "I don't know why, but I look at the guy and say, 'I'm deaf.' He just looks down at me, grabs my shoulder and yells 'My name is Chris.' He turns around to his buddies and says, 'This deaf chick is hot!'"

For nine months, Tina stayed in character, although she admits that it was difficult at times.

“If a door slams, you've got to not look," she said. "If a dog barks, you have to be really careful not to look or anything. Cross the street and you have to pretend you can't hear the horn honking at you."

Tina does say, however, that the lie worked to her benefit when it came to sleeping with him.

“In bed, it was a different story. I could be as loud as I wanted,” Tina revealed.

Eventually, her fisherman boyfriend found out the truth and the pair broke up, but at least Tina has an interesting story to tell.
