As the bid in Australia for a lone bottle of McDonald’s secret Big Mac sauce reached $18,000, a video of a chef’s recipe for the sauce has resurfaced online.
In the video that’s reemerged thanks to Metro UK, McDonald’s executive chef Dan Coudreaut demonstrates how anybody can make the sauce at home with just a few simple ingredients.
Coudreaut explains that the recipe for the sauce is not complicated and only requires a handful of ingredients, including mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.
This recipe seems super simple when comparing it to the list of ingredients that McDonald’s has listed on their website for the sauce. These ingredients, as Metro UK reports, include water, rapeseed oil, spirit vinegar, gherkin, sugar, modified maize starch, free range egg yolk, spices (contain mustard), salt, glucose-fructose syrup, thickener (xanthan gum), natural flavorings, firming agent (calcium chloride), color (paprika extract), and preservative (potassium sorbate).
If this list of ingredients is confusing, check out Coudreaut’s simplified version of the delicious sauce below. Now you don’t have to be jealous of whatever lucky Australian spends nearly $20,000 on the only bottle around.
