Cause Of Death Revealed For Florence Henderson

According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, beloved "Brady Bunch" actress Florence Henderson died of a heart attack after  secretly battling heart disease for 10 years.

The legendary actress, who portrayed Carol Brady on the classic sitcom, died at UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica in November 2016, and her death certificate stated that she suffered from heart disease for a decade prior to her passing. Five years ago, Henderson was diagnosed with having an irregular heartbeat.

“Florence Henderson was a dear friend for so very many years and in my heart forever. Love and hugs to her family. I'll miss you dearly,” Maureen McCormick, who played Henderson’s TV daughter, Marcia Brady, tweeted after the unexpected death.

Henderson’s TV son, Christopher Knight, also shared memories and mourned the death of his friend in an interview with People Magazine after her death.

“She was a person who I did not want to disappoint,” Knight said. “You want to shine for her. She would get the most out of you. I don’t know how she did that, but she did. I’m really grateful that she was in my life. She provided a role model and a great deal of entertainment.”

Knight said that he wished he’d seen Henderson more in recent years, despite spending time with one another at a recent taping of "Dancing With The Stars," which McCormick was participating in.

“Spending time with Florence was time well spent,” he said. “You just felt great after having spent that time. That’s how we felt. We went to dinner with her after and every time I spend time with her I say, ‘We have to do more of that.’ That’s the regret I have. That was the last time I had that opportunity. There wasn’t nearly enough time spent with Florence.”

Knight also spoke to the influence Henderson had on the cast of the hit show.

“Her opinion mattered. Pleasing her and having her respect and her guidance is something I always sought. I didn’t always get my guidance from her directly or verbally, but just through watching her and by letting her guide me through behavior,” he said.

“For a long time, she probably didn’t know how much she meant to me. I didn’t even know what I was doing — there was some difficulty in my own family with my own mom — and I had an alternate mom that I could use at moments when my own wasn’t working for me.”
