Viral Clip Shows Bug Extraction From Man's Ear (Video)

A disturbing viral clip shows a big bug being extracted from a man’s ear, and it’s just as disgusting as you'd think.

The procedure, which took place in India, seemed to be trickier than expected, as the bug is desperately trying to avoid being removed from the man’s ear. The person performing the procedure uses tweezers to reach into the man’s ear and pull the bug out, but as tweezers are about to grab hold of the insect, it starts to scramble in an effort to escape extraction.

As the tweezers are pulling the bug out, the pesky insect tries to latch on to the man’s earlobe in a last ditch effort to avoid the inevitable, but at that point, it’s too late.

Finally, the insect was removed, and while it is undeniably disgusting to watch and envision, University of Derby lecturer Michael Sweet says that the insect is an Indian house cricket that likely got into the man’s ear when he was sleeping.

“These critters are known to be an invasive species, appearing all over the globe,” said Sweet to the Daily Star. “Now being found in places like Australia, they like warm countries and hide during the day. It is likely this cricket crawled into the man's ear while he was sleeping and was just hiding there until night came around. During the night or early evening he would have likely crawled out on its own and gone on its way. This beastie will have just been uncomfortable for the victim. However, it could possibly have done some damage to the inner-ear which would have resulted in temporary balance and hearing issues.”
