Video: News Anchor Jennifer Livingston Attacks Viewer Who Suggested She Lose Weight

Jennifer Livingston, a morning news anchor on WKBT-TV, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, lashed out against a viewer who wrote in about her weight being a bad example for children (video below).

Livingston called the unnamed viewer a "bully" for saying that obesity was a serious problem in America and suggesting that she lose weight, reports

The viewer wrote Livingston an email on Friday that said:

It’s unusual that I watch your morning show, but I did so for a very short time today. I was surprised indeed to witness that your physical condition hasn’t improved for many years. Surely you don’t consider yourself a suitable example for this community’s young people, girls in particular. Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain.

Livingston's husband, evening news anchor Mike Thompson, posted the letter to his Facebook page. In response, Livingston said hundreds of people voiced their support for her choice to be obese.

Livingston added: "The truth is that I am overweight, you could call me fat and, yes, even obese. Do you think I don’t know that? Do you think that your cruel words are pointing out something that I don’t see?"

Livingston then mentioned it was National Anti-Bullying Awareness Month: "If you’re at home and you’re talking about ‘the fat news lady,’ guess what? Your children are going to go to school and call someone fat... We are better than this email. We are better than the bullies that would try to take us down."
