Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has announced that she is stepping down from Congress this week.
In a video she released on Sunday, Giffords said she is leaving office to focus on her recovery from the gunshot wound she suffered during last January's Tucson shooting that left six people dead and 13 others injured.
"I have my work to do on my recovery so to do what is best for Arizona I will step down this week," she said. "I'm getting better. Everyday my spirit is high."
Giffords spoke clearly during the two-minute video, but at times she did appear to struggle with some words. But she did not struggle when she vowed, "I will return."
