Video: Boy Scouts May Drop Ban Against Gays

The Boy Scouts of America is considering dropping its long-held ban against gay scouts and scout leaders, reports MSNBC. The proposed change would allow individual scout chapters to decide if they will admit gays (video below).

The change in policy could be announced as early as next week, reports

MSNBC's Pete Williams said: “But a scouting official says that the consideration of this change is something that’s coming from the grassroots level, that individual chapters have urged the Boy Scouts to reconsider this position."

The Boy Scouts of America reaffirmed its gay ban in July of 2012, saying that a special 11-member committee “came to the conclusion that this policy is absolutely the best policy for the Boy Scouts.”
