Video: 12-Year-Old Gaelan Edwards Delivers Baby Brother

12-year-old Gaelan Edwards was watching TV when his mother, Danielle Edwards, called for help from her bedroom. She had gone into labor and there was no time to get to the hospital in Campbell River, British Columbia.

"This is not gonna be a home baby," the Canadian boy recalls saying, but the baby was coming anyways. "Gaelan, when you see the shoulders, I need you to hang on to his shoulders and I need you to pull him out," Gaelan's mother told him.

With no computer in the house, Gaelan said he spends his time reading, sometimes checking out medical books: "Books have different ways to pull a baby out, so I grabbed the shoulders. Baby was all right, started crying, so you know that's a healthy baby."

"It was gross when I cut the cord cuz I cut it, blood was squirting out," added Gaelan, who cleaned his baby brother up and wrapped him in a blanket. If that wasn’t enough, he also took care of his mother afterwards.
