A U.K. woman is raising awareness about a lesser-known symptom of breast cancer after a Facebook post helped her diagnose her illness.
Lisa Royle, 42, was recently scrolling through her news feed when she saw a friend post a link about breast cancer, the Pink Penguin reported.
The link led to a story about a woman who discovered she had breast cancer because she had a dimple on her breast. Royle examined her own breasts and realized she had a similar dimple on hers.
Royle went to the doctor, and a biopsy confirmed that she had breast cancer. She took to Facebook to raise awareness about the unusual symptom:
Ok so I never thought I’d post a boob picture on Facebook but I thought I would before it gets chopped off next week.
So here it is….. This [is] all that I found on my boob. Very subtle dimples underneath that could easily be missed when we’re all rushing round getting ready in a morning.
Please take time to look at your boobs. It could save [your] life.
About six months later, Royle announced on Facebook that she was officially cancer-free.
