In the November issue of Health, 35-year-old actress Michelle Monaghan talks about her successful skin cancer battle. Monaghan, who can currently be seen starring opposite Gerard Butler in 'Machine Gun Preacher,' told the publication that an irregular mole was noticed by her Australian husband, Peter White.
Monaghan recalled: "A few years ago I had a mole on the back of my calf, and my husband was adamant that I get it checked. In Australia, they're very aware of skin cancer. I finally went and it was skin cancer. I had quite the chunk taken out of my leg. I'm so grateful he noticed it."
She has been with White for eleven years; they married in 2005. Monaghan said that her eagle-eyed husband "has a keen eye" and joked about "what other imperfections he's noticing!"
Monaghan also talks about how she overcame her smoking habit: "I smoked for almost 10 years. I really regret that. Thankfully, I came out on the other side. I hope my lungs are repairing themselves now."
