Rep. Mark Amodei Promises to Give Up His Govt. Health Care Plan (Video)

Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV) said that last week, prior to voting to repeal Obamacare for the 37th time, that he would be "happy to” give up his own government health insurance, which all congressional members get automatically.

No word yet on whether Rep. Amodei has followed through on his promise, after voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

Ironically, most Republicans, who vehemently oppose Obamacare, continue to enjoy their enrollment in the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP).

According to ThinkProgress.org, FEHBP and Obamacare both provide government subsidized health insurance coverage and include a highly-regulated market of private insurance plans to choose from.

However, the GOP has never voted to repeal the FEHBP.

If Rep. Amodei gives up his FEHBP plan as he promised to do, the congressman may end up paying enormous health care bills, which are the main cause of bankruptcy in the United States.
