Oregon Community Helps Move 900-Pound Woman Out of Bedroom (Video)

Sharon Hall-Dodson, who weighs 900 pounds, left her bedroom for the first time in two years this week in Eugene, Oregon.

Local health care workers, contractors and firefighters volunteered to remove a section of Hall-Dodson's bedroom wall, move the obese woman outside and then back into her living room so that she can use her physical therapy equipment (video below).

The home workouts were the only option besides moving Hall-Dodson to an expensive nursing facility. Hall-Dodson is hopeful that someday she will be able to walk again.

“The crews and everybody have been so wonderful," Hall-Dobson told CBS Seattle. "They have all gone over and above, and it’s made it a lot easier."

The community effort was six months in the making.

“She wants to stay in a safe living environment and we made her home safe by all coming together in the community as a partnership,” Sherry Nutter, a health plan nurse care coordinator, told KEZI-TV.
