Mom, 51, Breastfeeds Daughter, 5, Will Continue Until She's 10 (Video)

Maha Al Musa, 51, is still breastfeeding her daughter, Aminah, who is five years old.

The Australian belly dancer plans to breastfeed the child until she is ten, if she still wants her mother's milk.

"Aminah took to breastfeeding easily and the moment I felt that bond, I was instantly hooked," Al Musa told New! Magazine.

The mom proudly breastfeeds her young child whenever she is hungry, even if they are in public, notes the Daily Mail (video below).

"I believe it helps boost her immune system. To this day, she is very rarely ill and her temperament is calmer and more relaxed than the other children," claims Al Musa.

However, the "immune" theory is an old wives tale. Children actually start developing their own immunity because of their thymus gland.

The thymus gland programs T-lymphocytes (T cells), which are a type of white blood cells that circulate within the body and attack infections. The thymus gland is most active in children and young adults, notes

The "hooked" feeling that Al Musa feels is likely the "bonding" hormone oxytocin, which comes from the mother's pituitary gland, according to the La Leche League.

Al Musa has two other children, Kailash, 16, and Tariq, 13, who actually stopped breastfeeding when they were two years old.
