Yoga Can Help Alleviate Fibromyalgia and Stomach Ailments

I'm catching up after a long weekend away, so I've got a yoga buffet rather than a gourmet meal today...

Yoga: The Path to Being a Better Listener?

I heard someone once say that we have one mouth and two ears so we should do twice as much listening as speaking. I most definitely agree with this statement. Yes, there was a time when I rushed to fill the silence (and interrupted and thought about what I was going to say while the other person was talking), whereas now I let the quiet be there. I don't know about you, but I've definitely been on the other end of a one-sided conversation with the person talking at you rather than with you (not fun, by the way). Was it the yoga that slowed me down and made me a better listener? Maybe...

This blog post suggests that yoga and meditation help you listen better. What do y'all think? Has yoga and/or meditation transformed you from a talker to a listener? Or perhaps you've found your voice because of yoga and/or meditation?

Yoga Eases Fibromyalgia Symptoms

Although this recent study was a small one, its findings were encouraging -- those suffering from fibromyalgia found that their symptoms improved with weekly yoga classes. Click here to read all the details.

Yoga Dudes Unite!

Okay, I'm guilty. I do tend to skew this blog a bit too much towards women. Shame on me, since plenty of men practice yoga as well. While I still don't see as many men in yoga classes as I do women, men are present and accounted for. About a month ago, I read an excerpt of Neal Pollack's recently released book, Stretch: The Unlikely Making of a Yoga Dude.

Pollack packs the book with male humor -- yes, there are fart jokes -- and reminds us that sometimes the unlikely among us become yoga enthusiasts. Read more about Neal and his take on the world of yoga as well as a link to a recent interview here.

What to Do When You Overdid It

My poor stomach is crying UNCLE! My long weekend to Cape Cod offered up lots of fun  -- and some gastric distress. Yep, I overdid it on the junk food. Here's what I've been doing -- in just 10 minutes a day -- to get my stomach back on track:

Okay, back to catching up on things at the homestead.
