A little thing like having her leg amputated was not going to stop Breanna McMahon from going out for her college soccer team. And she made it.
NBC Sports reports that in September 2009 McMahon was taking part in a fundraising car wash for her Orlando high school when a car pinned her against a wall, crushing her legs. Doctors had to remove one of them.
After two years of hard rehab work, McMahon, now a sophomore at Brevard College on North Carolina, has been named a member of the school's soccer team. Equipped with a prosthetic "running leg," McMahon is training to be a goaltender.
“I have to figure out and adjust my body movements to what I can do instead of what they can do,” the 19-year-old McMahon said, adding that sometime she trains too hard.
“I don’t want to stop, but my coach is like, ‘Bree you’re done for the day’ and I’m like, ‘Ugh,’ because I want to keep going,” said McMahon.
