A Pennsylvania man was arrested after his landlord found him overdosed on heroin while he was supposed to be babysitting a 2-year-old boy.
According to WPXI, Justin Kriest of Ambridge, Pennsylvania, was found overdosed on heroin by his landlord, for the second time, on Sept. 9.
"I went and rounded the corner and found him looking dead in the kitchen with that little boy just hugging on his leg," Kriest's landlord, Rick Nelson, told WPXI. Nelson said he will never forget what he saw.
Kriest was arrested and appeared in court on Oct. 18. He took a plea and will face between six months and two years in prison, followed by 18 months of probation.
Ambridge Police Chief Jim Mann says that Kriest's overdose adds to a long list of heroin overdoses throughout the country and specifically in Ambridge.
"We have a young man in town who has overdosed 10 times since July," Chief Mann said. "I don't know what the answer is."
Kriest's story comes following a similar story in which a 36-year-old Alabama woman overdosed on heroin while babysitting two children. According to AL.com, one of the children attempted to revive her using techniques he said he had seen on TV. The babysitter, Victoria Newman, was put in jail after police were called to the home, and is now facing drug charges and charges of child endangerment.
