Kanye West Cancels Tour, Hospitalized For 'Exhaustion'

Rapper Kanye West suffered a psychotic breakdown in Los Angeles and was hospitalized Nov. 21 for his own health and safety, sources say. Wife Kim Kardashian canceled her appearance at a charity event in New York to fly back to California to be with her husband.

The rapper was under "psychiatric evaluation" at UCLA Medical Center following the sudden cancelation of his concert tour as a result of the breakdown, CNN reports.

Friends of West say the star was "spiraling out of control" and acting strangely just before being admitted to the hospital for "exhaustion."

Sources close to West say the breakdown was caused by trouble in his marriage to Kardashian, paranoia over his distanced relationship with Jay-Z, and a deep jealousy of Beyonce, Daily Mail reports.

Suffering from "severe sleep deprivation," the rapper made the decision to summon police and paramedics to his home around 1:20 p.m. Nov. 21, and was hospitalized soon thereafter.

According to sources, West resisted being taken to the hospital and had to be handcuffed to a gurney.

Later on the same day, Live Nation, West's concert promoter, announced a cancellation of the remaining 22 concert dates of his Saint Pablo tour.

The artist stirred controversy at his Nov. 17 concert in San Jose, California, when he spoke of his support for President-elect Donald Trump and made a comment saying he wanted black people to stop talking about racism.

On Nov. 19, West turned up late to his concert in Sacramento, California, and presented just two songs amidst continued talk about his political opinions. West incoherently criticized former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, friends Beyonce and Jay-Z, as well as Mark Zuckerberg while on the Sacramento stage.

"He's exhausted. He's just really tired," West's mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, said. "He's had a grueling tour and it's been a grind, so he just needs to rest."
