Jim Carrey Gave STDs To Ex Who Killed Herself?

In a lawsuit filed on Sept. 19, superstar Jim Carrey is accused of illegally supplying his late girlfriend, Cathriona White, with the drugs she used to commit suicide in Sept. 2015.

According to White’s autopsy, which was released in July 2016, she died from an overdose of Ambien, Popranolol and Percocet, the Daily Mail reports.

The suit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court by White's estranged husband, Mark Burton, reports the New York Daily News. Burton was married to White at the time of her death.

The lawsuit alleges that Carrey used "his immense wealth and celebrity status to illegally obtain and distribute highly addictive" drugs using the pseudonym Arthur King. Carrey made the drugs available to White although he was aware that she was "prone to depression and had previously attempted to take her own life," the document states.

On Sept. 22, Burton filed a revised lawsuit, alleging that Carrey also gave White sexually transmitted diseases, and then dumped her when she confronted him about it.

The specific STDs that Carrey allegedly gave his then-girlfriend are Herpes Type 1, Herpes Type 2 (genital herpes) and gonorrhea, notes the Daily Mail.

White texted Carrey in February 2013, saying that she believed he infected her with the diseases, according to the amended suit, which further adds that Carrey had sex with White without warning her he had the STDs. Burton also claims that White wrote a letter to Carrey, referring to herself as “damaged goods” as a result of contracting the diseases.

In a statement issued on the day he filed the revised lawsuit, Burton said, "I will not continue to stand idly by while Mr. Carrey and his handlers deceive the world about what they did to Cat.”

On the day the revised suit was filed, Jim Carrey dismissed it as a bogus claim, saying it was merely an attempt by Burton to profit from White's death. Marty Singer, Carrey's lawyer, said the lawsuit is “categorically disputed.”
