Jenny McCarthy, host of new dating series 'Love in the Wild,' recently attacked her ex-boyfriend actor Jim Carrey for not hanging out with her 10-year-old autistic son, Evan, after their break up.
McCarthy told Howard Stern: "I've tried to ask (Jim) numerous times (to see Evan), because my son still asks. I haven't [reached out directly]. I think that sometimes people need to take a real break from each other."
"But I still love him. I think you can love people from a distance and respect him. But as a mother, you just hope when you have a relationship with someone, it has nothing to do with the child when you break up."
While they were dating for five years, Carrey repeatedly defended McCarthy when she quoted research, which was later debunked, claiming that vaccinations caused autism.
McCarthy reportedly broke up with Carrey, partly due to his depression, in April 2010.
The 39-year-old McCarthy, who is now dating Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher, also lectured Stern on life lessons: "As you get older, Howard, you kind of get to see things more clearly. Hopefully you get happier (over time), and I am so much happier."
