Though some Americans might not be all that keen on immigration policies, they are more than happy to eat all the authentic ethnic dishes some immigrants bring along.
One immigration officer in California apparently accepted egg rolls and other cash bribes from immigrants seeking green cards and citizenship.
The immigration officer, 47-year-old Mai Nhu Nguyen, was then indicted on bribery charges by federal prosecutors Wednesday. According to the charges, Nguyen accepted 200 egg rolls from one applicant and $1,000 and $2,200 from two others.
Prior to her arrest, Nguyen worked in Santa Ana, Calif. for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Part of her job was reviewing the applications of immigrants for consideration of possible benefits.
Nguyen was arrested June 6 and is scheduled to be arraigned on July 1.
