Idaho Woman Poses as Doc: Gives Breast Exams in Bars

In a scam reminiscent of "I'm the wallet inspector," an Idaho woman is under arrest for posing as a doctor and conducting breast exams in bars, of all places.

Police say 37-year-old Kristina Ross would go to bars in and around Boise and introduce herself to women as a plastic surgeon named Berlyn Aussieahshowna. She would somehow convince them to allow her to do a breast exam in the bathroom of the bar. At least two women fell for the ruse.

But here's how Ross tripped herself up -- police say she would give her victims the telephone number of a real plastic surgeon in Boise. That office became alarmed when it suddenly received a flood of phone calls asking for appointments for someone named Berlyn Aussieahshowna.

Staffers called police, and they were able to track Ross down.

Ross has a criminal record -- both as a woman, and a man. The Department of Corrections listed her as transgender in 2004.

Ross is charged with two felony counts of practicing medicine without a license. Bail is set at  $100,000. If convicted, Ross could face a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 for each count.
