Gestations: Is The ‘First Bar For Pregnant Women’ Set To Open In NYC?

A New York City bar calling itself "Gestations" hopes to be the “first bar for pregnant women” promising “no judgements."

The bar, which is set to open on Fifth Street and Avenue A, claims it “will have free pregnancy test kits when you buy a pitcher.”

“All you mothers-to-be should come check out our trimester specials and our 9-month happy hour because now you’re drinking for two!” the bar announced, according to New York Post.

But the bar could be a publicity hoax. They haven’t even applied for a liquor license yet, according to the The Post.

While Vocativ said it might “be the lamest viral-marketing campaign ever,” some residents told PIX 11 they think the bar is a good idea.

“I wish it would be open in time for this one,” said one pregnant New Yorker. “But I think it’ll be a little too late.”

She thinks the place will be more of a hangout and doesn’t believe they’ll serve alcoholic beverages.

“I bet it will be all virgin drinks,” she added.

Some commenters on the bar’s Facebook page are a lot less enthusiastic.

“You guys are trolls but f**king sick trolls at that. You might as well be trolling about getting pregnant mothers on crack. It's the same level of depravity,” wrote Kai Baker.

Some are calling it irresponsible.

“You are promoting actions that are dangerous to the health of an unborn child. Unfortunately, many babies are born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome that produces learning and behavior disabilities as well as physical ones as well,” commented Angla Holkmann, adding that she hopes “this is a joke.”

The bigger the belly, the more you can drink. True for men and pregnant women. #gestationsny

Never thought we'd see our baby come to life, especially with a billboard in Time Square!
