Police in Greenfield, Indiana, say they are investigating the death of a four-year-old boy who was exhibiting flu-like symptoms just hours before.
Reports say that police responded to a call on Thursday morning that a child was unresponsive. When they arrived at the home of Mark and Angela Gilliatte, officers and emergency response workers found four-year-old Noah on his bed.
The boy’s family says that the night before, he had been exhibiting flu-like symptoms. Noah’s mother was reportedly with him until 8:30 p.m. and checked on him one last time a couple of hours later. The last time she checked on him, Noah was still sick but doing fine.
Tragically, the mother went to check on him first thing Thursday morning and found him completely unresponsive.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Friday, and although police aren’t suspecting any sort of foul play, the Indiana Department of Child Services says they are required by law to investigate any sudden and seemingly unexplainable child death.
