Mark D. Schreiber was a plastic surgeon based in Boynton Beach, Florida, before he was stripped of license in 2008 following several run-ins with the Florida Board of Medicine.
Now he’s accused of being part of an illegal procedure that deformed a man’s penis. Schreiber, 60, is being held on one felony count of unlicensed practice of health care causing serious injury, the Sun Sentinel reported.
A 55-year-old hairstylist had already received botched penis filler injections to make his penis longer and thicker, allegedly at the hands of Nery Carvajal Gonzalez, who is also not licensed to practice medicine in Florida.
Within a day, the victim’s penis was “incredibly small, yet very swollen and the skin around the shaft had been removed and was raw,” according to an arrest warrant. ”The victim stated that his penis had retracted so far that it protruded less than 1 inch from his body.”
The victim said he was given several pills and woke up the next day to find his penis covered in bloody bandages.
The man went to Schreiber two days later and the former plastic surgeon, whose website boasted of his artistic talent, told the victim the results were not unusual, The Washington Post reported. Schreiber, who was paid $1,000 to remove the filler, allegedly told the man to "just put two sticks (on) either side of his penis and wrap it up to keep it straight,” according to the warrant.
Now authorities say the victim’s penis is "severely deformed” and that "he has no sensation during urination and ... is unable to engage in sexual relations and spontaneous erection is extremely painful."
When Schreiber was arrested at his home, investigators found breast implants and other items that indicated "he may have been doing clandestine surgeries on other people who don't know or who don't care about his history," said Sgt. Carl Zogby of the Hialeah Police Department. "He does this sort of gypsy thing, peddling his services to unscrupulous dealers."
Gonzalez remains at large.
