Eminem Reveals How He Lost 80 Pounds

Eminem says that he overdosed on pills in 2007, and weighed 230 pounds, but was able to lose 80 pounds and quit the drugs.

Eminem told Men's Journal that he gained weight because of stomach problems caused by Vicodin and Valium. He recalled "constantly eating" to avoid stomach pains.

The rapper said he was a casual gym goer, but "had to lift the kiddie weights."

He recalled being more into cardio such as sit-ups, push-ups and dabbled in boxing with trainer Emanuel Steward who came to the singer's house.

Eminem said that he had difficulty sleeping without the drugs, so he attended rehab and then began running.

Eminem said that he was running "seventeen miles a day on a treadmill. I would get up in the morning, and before I went to the studio, I would run eight and a half miles in about an hour. Then I'd come home and run another eight and a half."

"I started getting OCD about the calories, making sure I burned 2,000 every day. In the end I got down to about 149 pounds," Eminem added.

The rapper also watched workout DVDs at his home, such as Shaun T’s Insanity workout, to motivate and entertain himself.

These days Eminem says he is doing the "Body Beast workout with free weights, bench, and pullup bar at home" because the "Body Beast dude is over-the-top."

Eminem concludes with these words of wisdom: "Once you're at a place where you've made progress and you've got some time invested in it, you don't wanna quit and give up what you started."

Page Six notes that Eminem, who is 42 years old, has dropped to 149 pounds.
