Doctors in India reportedly removed 80 teeth from a seven-year-old boy’s upper jaw during a procedure last week.
According to The Independent, the young boy went in for a procedure at the Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India to have 80 teeth from his upper jaw removed.
“The patient had visited us five days ago with abscess in upper jaw,” Dr. Maheshwari said to The Times of India. “Upon medical investigations, it was diagnosed a case of odontoma. We planned the surgery and removed 80 teeth after clearing abscess, which is rare in tender age.”
The Independent notes that the boy’s condition, odontoma, is a rare type of tumor that affects the jaw or gums that build up teeth-like structures.
