Some people would sell their soul to buy an iPad -- that is understandable. But a kidney? Yup, at least one teenager did just that.
Yahoo! News quotes a story from the Global Times which tells the tale of a 17-year-old boy in China who really wanted an iPad 2, but he didn't have the money.
"I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it," the teen named Zheng told a local newspaper. "A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan."
So Zheng underwent the surgery on April 28 and received his money -- the equivalent of around $3,000.
His mother, who didn't know about the surgery, grew suspicious when her son suddenly had all of these new electronic devices. He fessed up and the mom called police. They have been looking for this "organ broker" ever since.
