Co-host of Dancing With The Stars' (and Season 7 mirror ball trophy winner) Brooke Burke Charvet has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She shares with her fans:
"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck," Burke-Charvet, 41, revealed on The ModernMom YouTube channel. "I don't get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it's going to be pretty much dead center. I don't want anybody to read about it and get the wrong idea, or think that I'm sick, because I'm not."
"I got my results back days later and they were atypical, which means that the doctors couldn't confirm whether the nodule was cancerous or benign," she says. "So I had to go and do a whole bunch of additional tests and get second opinions. Long story long, I got my results back and they were not good."
"I've booked my surgery," she says. "It's taken me a couple of months to really wrap my head around this. … Now I'm good. I'm ready to deal with it, and I'm going to be fine. I feel really, really strong. Doctors say this is a 'good' kind of cancer to have. … My doctor did tell me this is a happily ever after ending kind of thing."
Wow, when I read the that she had cancer, I just couldn't believe it. But if there is one thing we know about Brooke, it's that she is a very positive lady and she has a strong support system around her.
The 41 year old has been married to David Charvet since 2011. They have 2 children together and she has two with ex-husband Dr. Garth Fisher.
Lots of love and positive energy to you, Brooke.
