A bride-to-be has plenty to worry about during the engagement, from meeting with caterers and scheduling the ceremony to tasting cakes and selecting a menu. And of course, there's the dress. Now more than ever, brides are going a step further to prepare themselves to be the center of attention on their wedding day. Facial skin treatments, laser hair removal, and breast implants are some of the pre-wedding procedures that are growing in popularity.
According to the Calgary Herald, many brides-to-be are running to the doctor's office before walking down the aisle (http://www.calgaryherald.com/health/Here+comes+bride/4733931/story.html). Kevin Schwenk, a cosmetic laser technician, says he sees many future brides come in for laser skin resurfacing to get them ready for the big day. Another in-demand pre-wedding procedure is the photo facial, a procedure to treat sun damage and other skin conditions.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Wayne Perron says cosmetic injectables and fillers – including Botox and Juvederm – are among the top procedures sought by brides and grooms. These techniques are used to smooth facial lines and wrinkles. Dr. Perron also says that many brides plan ahead, visiting his office for liposuction up to a year before their wedding day to prepare their curves for a wedding gown.
