Brazilian Health Officials Find Traces of Rodent Fur in Heinz Ketchup

Health officials in Brazil banned a batch of Heinz ketchup made in Mexico after they discovered it contained traces of rodent fur, according to BBC News.

Heinz says the batch, imported to Brazil in 2012, has already been taken out of circulation. There is no word on the volume of Heinz products pulled or the amount contaminated.

Mexican hygiene agency Cofepris has order a visit to the factory to check hygiene standards and ordered a detailed report from Heinz on the contamination.

While Heinz says all their products are made according to international standards, Mexican authorities have launched an investigation and inspection into the factory where the batch was made. Heinz also promised to investigate the matter.
