Yesterday we ran a story on the "awful people" who withheld a souvenir foul ball from a screaming child only one seat away at the Texas Rangers game. Today, that same couple are the ones crying foul, as they claim they never saw young Cameron's tears and would have given him the ball if they had.
Sean Leonard and Shannon Moore want an apology from New York Yankee’s announcer Miachael Kay who criticized their conduct on live television during the game.
Granted, the video looks pretty bad. After Leonard comes up with the ball and presents it to fiancée Moore, little Cameron bursts into tears. That’s when Kay begins editorializing, possibly without all the facts.
“Oh my God,” exclaims the horrified announcer. “They can’t give it to the kid? That’s awful.”
When Leonard and Moore pose for pictures with the ball he adds, “Wow, they’re actually rubbing it in the kid’s face. That’s cold.”
It wasn’t long before Leonard and Moore found out about their 15 minutes of ignominy. Mortified, Leonard had this to say in a statement to WFAA-TV, “My fiancée Shannon and I were honestly unaware of the situation of the little boy sitting next to us last night since we were so caught up in the excited and moment of being at our first Rangers baseball game together."
What do you think? Are Leonard and Moore two selfish people trying to clear their names after the fact? Or did Michael Kay jump to inappropriate conclusions? The videotape doesn’t lie…
