Americans believe sugar is more harmful than marijuana, says a new survey released today.
A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll asked Americans to rank substances and their harmful effects.
15 percent ranked sugar as the most harmful substance, while 8 percent said that marijuana was.
The greatest group, 49 percent, of Americans think tobacco is the most harmful substance, while alcohol came in second at 24 percent.
The poll also found that Americans between 18 and 35 years of age have watched more news about marijuana being legalized than about the ACA or Russia invading Ukraine.
A Gallup poll in October 2013 showed that 58 percent of Americans said marijuana should be legal.
38 percent of adults said they had tried marijuana for the first time in 2013.
