Two people who work for such reality shows as "The Amazing Race" and "Whale Wars" were reportedly poisoned in Africa after refusing to give in to demands of local thugs. One of them died.
FoxNews.com reports exclusively that the victims are known as "facilitating producers" -- locals who are hired to make arrangements for the shows. Fox reports that after the producers refused a shakedown, they both got sick from some kind of poison.
A family member said the dead producer was Jeff Rice. His body was found in Uganda. Rice was not currently working for "The Amazing Race," but he did work on the latest season that premiered on Sunday.
CBS, which airs the show, had no comment.
Show producer Jerry Bruckheimer Films said it had "no knowledge" of the incident.
