3-Year-Old Brit Treated for Alcoholism

A "horrifying" revelation from doctors in Britain -- they have treated a three-year-old for alcoholism.

According to a report in The Sun, the unidentified toddler was among 13 children under the age of 12 who were diagnosed as alcoholics by the Heart of England NHS Trust between 2008 and 2010.

The report said it is believed that the child was given alcohol "repeatedly" for six months.

Experts said the story is very disturbing.

"To be diagnosed alcoholic, it's possible this child would have shown a physical dependency," said Nicolay Sorensen of Alcohol Concern. "They would have had to ingest enough to cause withdrawal symptoms. It is a horrifying case."

Before this child, an eight-year-old girl was thought to be Britain's youngest alcoholic. It was reported last month that the girl raided her parents' liquor cabinet, developing "a serious problem," getting "steaming drunk" four or five times a week.
