16 Things You Didn't Know About Sleep

Did you know that one in 50 teenagers still wets the bed? Or that one out of every four married couples has separate beds? Psychology Degree has published a poster listing 16 little-known sleep facts.

For example, babies need 16 hours of sleep, while senior citizens (adults over 65) only need 6 hours a night. Also, we can only dream about faces we have already seen, whether we actively remember them or not. So what about those dreams where we recognize a person as someone we know, yet he or she doesn't look like that person? That face belongs to someone else - we just don't remember who. Spooky!

More fascinating sleep facts: Dreaming itself is a normal activity - if you don't dream, that's a problem. Lack of dreaming could indicate you have a personality disorder. When color TV was invented, more people began dreaming in color - 12% of people still dream only in black and white, and that percentage was higher before color TV.
