In today's economy, people are looking for any way they can make some quick extra cash. With so much opportunity available just on the internet, it's hard to know where to begin. These suggestions are here to save you some time and get you even closer to a fatter bank account.

One of the smartest ways to make some extra money is to open what's known as a virtual piggy bank. This can be done by not just putting your paychecks in a regular bank account, but by opening an account that accrues interest.

Dana Sitar, a writer for The Penny Hoarder, told the site that she deposits a portion of her paycheck into a checking account with Aspiration Summit. This account offers her 1 percent annual percentage yield on a $2,500 or more balance, free of charges or fees. The best part is, 10 percent of the company's revenue goes to charity.

Another quick way to make money is to be an online bookkeeper from the comfort of your own home. If it sounds too good to be true, it's not. Ben Robinson, a certified public accountant and business owner who teaches people to become virtual bookkeepers, told The Penny Hoarder that all it really takes to do the job is motivation, passion for helping business owners take on real-world problems, and adequate computer skills.

"The average full-time bookkeeper earns about $40,000 per year, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. However, that is as an employee in a typical work setting. As a freelancer or contractor, you can actually earn a higher hourly rate while working fewer hours," Robinson told the site in an interview. A freelance virtual bookkeeper can make as much as $60 per hour.

Another way to make some cash that's one of the more interesting ones you'll find comes courtesy of a health app called Achievement -- which allows you to earn money for completing activities such as logging your weight or taking a certain number of steps in a day.

Another popular way of getting more money in your pocket is donating plasma -- which Alta Loma, California, resident Selda Yilmaz said earned her as much as $2,000 after she donated a number of times and took part in a referral incentive program.

"Because I took advantage of their buddy bonus program, I was able to earn a thousand dollars just from other people donating," she said, WCPO reported.

There are countless ways of making extra money, especially in today's technology-driven world that gives people the ability to work remotely. Take advantage of some of these opportunities today and you'll end up with some financial peace of mind.
