93-year-old Zsa Zsa Gabor’s leg was amputated successfully on Friday.
After weeks of being hospitalized with doctors attempting to control the infection in her leg with antibiotics, doctors finally came to the grim decision that they had to amputate her leg in order to save her life.
Zsa Zsa Gabor’s right leg was amputated just above the knee.
Dr. David Rigberg, who treated Zsa Zsa, says he is not sure how Zsa Zsa will recover from the amputation. “She seemed to tolerate it well, although she’s in a somewhat frail condition. We’re guarded in our opinion on how she’s going to do overall. She didn’t come in from home in very good health, so it’s difficult for me to predict how long she’s going to be here.”
Zsa Zsa Gabor has no idea the surgery she would be having would be an amputation on her leg. Her husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, said he did not tell her about it beforehand. ”Eventually, she will feel it, and then she will ask me and at that moment I don’t even want to think about it.”
